CLEANING OF DRESS CABINETS, AIR CURTAIN AND INSECTICUTORS

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for cleaning of dress cabinets, air curtain and Insecticutors.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable to cleaning of dress cabinets, air curtains and insecticutors at {Company Name} {Company Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Human Resources:  is responsible for instructing the housekeeping staff for cleaning as per the SOP and responsible to ensure the compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

             QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
  • CLEANING OF DRESS CABINETS:
  • Clean outside surfaces of the dress cabinet daily with dry smooth cloth.
  • Clean inside surface by wet mopping and vacuum cleaner once in a month and record in Annexure-I.
    • CLEANING OF INSECTICUTORS:
      • Disconnect the power supply to the insecticutor.
      • Use ladder for cleaning the Insecticutor.
      • Remove the screws of the insecticutor mesh with the help of screwdriver.
      • Clean the inner mesh with the help of a nylon brush.
      • Clean the fluorescent lights with a dry cloth.
      • Remove insects from the tray, count, and record in the Annexure-II.

Frequency: for cleaning – daily and for counting the insects – daily.

  • Clean the tray with dry cloth followed by wet cloth.
    • Fix the screws of the insecticutor mesh with the help of screwdriver.
    • Fix the tray to the insecticutor.
    • Connect the power supply to the insecticutor.
    • If there is an upward trend or more than a total of 15 insects observed, housekeeping supervisor shall investigate the reason. Where required pest control personnel (Contractor) shall be informed, and accordingly corrective and preventive action shall be initiated in consultation with QA.
  • CLEANING OF AIR CURTAIN:
    • Cleaning the outer surface of the air curtain by using brush.
    • Clean the mesh of the air curtain by using vacuum cleaner.
    • Cleaning shall be done fortnightly and record cleaning in Annexure-III.
    • Preventive Maintenance Shall be carried out by maintenance personnel.

Q: How often should the outside surfaces of the dress cabinets be cleaned?

A: Daily, with a dry smooth cloth.

Q: How often should the inside surfaces of the dress cabinets be cleaned?

A: Once a month, by wet mopping and vacuuming. This should be recorded in Annexure-I.

Q: What safety precautions should be taken before cleaning an insecticutor?

A: Disconnect the power supply and use a ladder for safe access.

Q: How often should the insecticutor mesh be cleaned?

A: Daily. Use a nylon brush to clean the mesh and a dry cloth to clean the fluorescent lights.

Q: What should be done with the dead insects in the tray?

A: Remove them, count them, and record the number in Annexure-II. Both cleaning and counting should be done daily.

Q: How should the tray be cleaned?

A: Clean it first with a dry cloth, then with a wet cloth.

Q: What action should be taken if there is a significant increase in the number of dead insects?

A: If more than 15 insects are observed or an upward trend is seen, the housekeeping supervisor should investigate the cause. If necessary, pest control should be contacted, and corrective and preventive actions taken in consultation with QA.

Q: How often should the outer surface of the air curtain be cleaned?

A: Daily, using a brush.

Q: How often should the mesh of the air curtain be cleaned?

A: Fortnightly, using a vacuum cleaner. This cleaning should be recorded in Annexure-III.

Q: Who is responsible for preventive maintenance of the air curtain?

A: Maintenance personnel.
