CLEANING OF SAMPLING TOOLS

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down the procedure for cleaning of Sampling tools.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for the procedure for cleaning of Sampling tools at {Company Name} {Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Officer/Executive/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for cleaning of Sampling tools as per SOP.
  • Head/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for ensuring compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

             QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
  • Used sampling tools shall collect in poly bag with “TO BE CLEANED” label (Format-I).
  • Tie the neck of the poly bag and transfer to the washing area.
  • Remove the sampling tools from poly bag and scrub the inner and outer surface thoroughly with nylon brush.
  • Wash the sampling tools in 5 % Sodium hydroxide solution and finally wash with water.
  • Finally rinse with Purified Water.
  • Remove the excess water by wiping with dry lint free cloth.Spray with 70 % Isopropyl Alcohol solution and allow for drying.
  • After drying wrap the sampling tools in stretch of film and label with “CLEANED” Sticker (Format-II).
  • After cleaning same shall record in cleaning record of sampling tools. (Format-III).
  • Dried sampling tools shall be stored in designated place.
  • If the cleaned sampling tools are not used for a period of 6 days, they shall be re-cleaned and stored as per the above procedure.

CLEANING RECORD OF SAMPLING TOOLS

1. What do you do with used sampling tools?

Answer: Place them in a labeled “TO BE CLEANED” polybag (Format-I) before transferring them to the designated washing area.

2. How do you clean the sampling tools?

Answer: Follow these steps:

  • Remove tools from the bag and scrub thoroughly with a nylon brush (inside and out).
  • Wash with 5% sodium hydroxide solution, followed by water.
  • Rinse with purified water.
  • Wipe excess water with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Spray with 70% isopropyl alcohol solution and let air dry.

3. What happens after the tools are dry?

Answer: Wrap them in stretch film and label them with a “CLEANED” sticker (Format-II). Record the cleaning in the sampling tools cleaning record (Format-III). Store the dried tools in their designated place.

4. How often do you need to re-clean the tools?

Answer: If the cleaned tools remain unused for more than 6 days, re-clean them using the same procedure before using them again.

5. What are the benefits of following this cleaning procedure?

Answer: This procedure ensures:

  • Hygiene: Proper cleaning and disinfection minimize contamination risks.
