PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OF RESIDUAL FREE CHLORINE IN CHLORINATED WATER

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for Determination of residual free chlorine in chlorinated water at Pretreatment    water system.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for Determination of residual free chlorine in chlorinated water at Pre treatment water system at {Company Name} {Company Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Technical Assistant – Engineering is responsible for follow the procedure.
  • Executive– Engineering is responsible to ensure the compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • PROCEDURE:
  •  Determination of residual free chlorine in chlorinated water shall be carried out with “ENZED CHLOROSCOPE” chlorine test kit.
  • The test kit contains:
  • Enzed Chloroscopes
  • Enzed reagent.
  • 2 test tubes
  • Open the sampling point and drain out the water for few minutes.
  • Take both the test tubes, rinse it several times and fill with water to be tested.
  • Add 3 to 4 drops of Enzed reagent in right side test tube with the help of dropper and Mix the water thoroughly till the color turns to yellowish shade uniformly.
  • Now insert the tube in the top right-side hole and close the top cover and view against light.
  • Compare the color of the water with standard color Disc filled on the left side.
  • Immediately read off the concentration of free chlorine in ppm.
  • Record free chlorine in ppm as per Annexure-I.
  • Collect the chlorinated water before passing to MGF sampling valve.
  • Chlorinated water limit Shall be given in their respective SOP.
  • Frequency: Daily once at morning.
