OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure for cleaning and sanitization of toilets.
SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable to the procedure for cleaning and sanitization of toilets at {Company Name} {Location}.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- HR Executive/Designee – is responsible to follow the procedure as per SOP.
- Housekeeping: is responsible for cleaning of toilets.
- Head HR – is responsible for compliance of the SOP.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.
About Cleaning and Sanitization of Toilet:
Pharmaceutical facilities must maintain strict hygiene standards in all areas, including toilets. Regular cleaning and sanitation are essential to prevent contamination and maintain a safe environment. Toilets should be cleaned frequently, using appropriate detergents and disinfectants to remove dirt, germs, and odors. All surfaces, including floors, walls, toilets, urinals, sinks, and fixtures, should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Disinfectant solutions should be left on surfaces for the recommended contact time to ensure effectiveness. Proper ventilation is crucial to remove moisture and odors. Regular inspections should be conducted to identify and address any maintenance issues promptly. By following these guidelines, pharmaceutical companies can ensure that their toilet facilities are clean, hygienic, and safe for employees and visitors.
PROCEDURE:
De – Dust the door, window frames, panes and wall fixtures with dry cloth and wipe with wet Cloth.
Frequency – Twice in a day.
Spray Harpic toilet cleaner in W.C. commodes, Urinals, wash basins and leave it for 2 to 5 Mts.
Take the cleaning agent and scrub the wall tiles.
Scrub the washbasin with scotch bright and cleaning agent.
Scrub the toilets, urinals with toilets brush and wash with water.
After cleaning the entire wall tiles, washbasin, W.C. commodes and urinals scrub the floor by using nylon brush/scotch bright with the cleaning agent and wash.
Frequency – Twice in a day.
Take two clean buckets.
Prepare the disinfectant solution as per SOP in one bucket and take 10 L of potable Water in other bucket.
Take clean Mop cloth.
Dip into the potable water and rinse the cloth.
Squeeze out the excess water from the mop cloth in to the bucket.
Dip the same mop cloth into the disinfectant solution available in the second bucket of the double bucket trolley.
Rinse the mop cloth in the disinfectant solution.
Squeeze out the excess disinfectant solution to the same bucket.
Wrap the mop cloth over rubber mop.
Engage the rubber mop to the aluminum pipe.
Carry out the mopping by pushing the mop pipe only towards forward direction and cover the total area by following the above procedure.
Frequency – Twice in a day.
Fill the hand wash containers with liquid soap.
Frequency – Twice in a day.
De-dust the tube light frames after switching off, with glass cleaning cloth and spray on, take other glass Cleaning cloth then wipe the frame.
De-dust the window glass blowers, A/C grills by using glass cleaning cloth, spray the glass cleaner and wipe with glass cleaning cloth.
Frequency – Once in Week.
Cleaning of Ceiling: Clean the ceiling using soft nylon brush. Take a clean roller sponge and pipe. dip the roller sponge in the disinfectant solution and squeeze out the extra disinfectant solution, start giving even smooth strokes and ensures that every stroke runs edge to edge to cover the entire ceiling area cleaning.
Frequency – Once in a week.
De-dust the exhaust fan after switching off by using nylon brush and clean with wet cloth.
Frequency – Once in a week.
NOTE: Ensure that cleanness of the toilet by visual inspection. If sanitary, put the room freshener On the top of the toilet flesh. if cleaning is not satisfy repeat the cleaning.
