COMPARISON OF TEMPERATURE SENSOR

OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for comparison of temperature sensor indication where calibration is not possible.

SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable to the procedure for comparison of temperature sensor indication where calibration is not possible at {Company Name} {Location}.

    RESPONSIBILITY:

Engineering Head/designee is responsible for compliance of SOP.

Officer/Executive/Designee: shall be responsible for following the procedure as per SOP.

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

    PROCEDURE:

Ensure that the standard Digital Thermometer and sensor its accessories are cleaned condition.

Ensure that the standard Digital Thermometer and sensor calibration is within the validity period.

Ensure that the standard Digital Thermometer battery is fully charged condition.

Ensure that the written requisition is obtained from the concerned user department (wherever required).

Ensure that the master probes are externally clean.

Follow the procedure of SOP Calibration of Equipments/Instruments before and after completion of the calibration activity.

Calibration frequency shall be followed for under calibration instruments /equipments as per the master calibration schedule.

Standards Digital Thermometer is traceable for calibration of under calibration instruments /equipments shall be calibrated once in a year.

Calibration By Using Digital Thermometer with two probes (Small & K-type)

Switch on the Digital Thermometer and connect the probe as per requirement of Instruments /equipment calibration.

    • Select and press the C button on the digital Thermometer.
    • Take the Standard Thermometer probe insert the near under calibration equipment probe.
    • Observed both the under calibrating equipment reading and Digital Standard Thermometer Reading.
    • Take 4 to 5 intermittent readings by following the above 4 steps, and note down the Readings format as per follow the SOP.
    •  Acceptance criteria for direct impact / indirect impact instruments +/-1ºC, no impact instruments +/-2ºC, if the least count of the instrument is more than the acceptance criteria then its least count shall be taken as acceptance criteria.
    • Person who did the calibration/verification shall sign off the calibration Certificate respectively.
    • Calibration personnel shall file the reviewed calibration certificate with calibration lab.
    • Based on the calibration results prepare the calibration status label.
    • Affixes /tag the calibration status label and take the acknowledgement from the concerned in the calibration requisition as per SOP.

    • Calibration personnel shall file the calibration requisition format with calibration lab.
