HANDLING OF GLASSWARE

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down the procedure for handling of glassware.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for the procedure for handling of glassware in the laboratory at {Company Name} {Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Officer/Executive/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for following the procedure as per SOP.
  • Head/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for ensuring compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

             QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
  • New glassware received shall be checked for appropriateness.
  • In case of broken glassware, the same should be returned to the supplier.
  • Every person shall be aware of cleaning and handling it carefully to avoid any breakage.
  • Glassware, which requires calibration should be calibrated before use.
  • Use Class ‘A’ glass ware for analysis.
  • The calibration certificate for the glassware should be preserved.
  • Class ‘A’ glass ware should be labelled properly and stored in the marked cupboard.
