OPERATION OF ELECTRONIC BALANCE (MODEL –SE2 MAKE: SARTORIUS)

  • PROCEDURE FOR THE OPERATION OF WEIGHING BALANCE:
  • MODEL –SE2
  • MAKE: SARTORIUS
  • Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from dust.
  • Switch on the mains.

Note: ensure that the power cord is connected to the power socket.

  • Check that the balance spirit level is adjusted properly, if not, turn the levelling screws of the electronic balance clockwise/ Anti clockwise directions to get the spirit level exactly in the middle position of the circle.
  • Electronic Balance Icons/ Keys:
  • ‘TARE’ – To Tare
  • ‘I/O’ – To switch on / off the instrument.
  • ‘CAL’ – For internal calibration
  • ‘F’ – Function key ( To change units, grams to milligrams or vice versa)
  • Printout – To print
  • Press key ‘I/O’ to turn on the display.
  • A self-check will follow and digital screen will display ‘0.00000’ or ‘0.00’ reading.
  • Weighing solids:
  • Place the butter paper on center of the weighing pan of the Balance and press tare key.
  • Display will show ‘0.0000000’ g / ‘’ mg reading for SE2 respectively.
  • Transfer the required quantity of the material into the butter paper and give the print command for printing the initial weight.
  • Transfer the contents carefully and keep the butter paper back on the balance.
  • Print the paper weight.
  • Take the final difference of weights by pressing “STAT” key.
  • Weighing Liquids/ Semi solids:
  • Place the bowl/specified device on the pan of the balance and press tare key.
  • Display will show ‘0.0000’ mg/ ‘0.0000000’ g reading for Model, SE2 respectively.
  • Weigh the required quantity of the material in the weighing bowl/ specified device and give the print command to print the weight.
  • Press “STAT” key. (Available on the printer keyboard)
  • Cleaning:
  • After completion of weighing clean the platform of the balance using wet cloth followed by lint- free dry cloth.
  • Clean the exterior of the balance with by lint- free dry cloth.
  • Press ‘I/O’ to switch off the balance at the end of the day if required.
