OPERATION OF MILLI-Q WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM

  • OBJECTIVE:
  • To lay down the procedure for operation of Milli-Q Water purification System.
  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable to the procedure for Operation of Milli-Q Water purification System at {Company Name} {Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Officer/Executive/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for operation as per SOP.
  • Head/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for ensuring compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

             QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
    • For General Cleaning:
      • Ensure that the power supply to the instrument is switched ‘OFF’ before cleaning.
      • Clean the instrument with a clean dry cloth every day. Use clean cloth dipped in soap solution if necessary.
      • Care should be taken to remove the water with a dry cloth.
    • Operating Procedure:
      • Milli-Q water: This is ultrapure water that has been produced using a Millipore Milli-Q water purification system.
      • Milli-Q water purification systems: These are systems that are used to produce Milli-Q water. 
      • Switch on the main power switch provided on the backside of the instrument.
      • Move the “Point of use” trigger in a click way till the green bulb glowing starts to initiate the water purifying process.
      • The green bulb starts glowing.
      • When the bulb is glowing, conductivity or resistivity of waters displays.
      • Then further move the “Point of use” trigger to start the dispensing of water.
      • After collecting the water click on the “Point of use” trigger to its original position.
      • Press the “OPERATE / STAND BY” button for at least 2 seconds to go to “STAND BY” mode.
      • The water resistivity shall be verified twice in a day.
      • Instrument shall not be used if the output water resistivity is less than 18.2 MW. cm.
      • The Cartridges shall be replaced as below given and the details of the change shall be entered in Annexure-II.
      • Quantum Ultra-pure Cartridge: As and when required.
      • Q-Guard Purification pack: As and when required.
      • Mill pack 40: When the flow rate is too low (<0.5 Liters per Minute)
