OPERATION OF VACUUM PUMP

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down the procedure for operation of vacuum pump.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable to the procedure for Operation of vacuum pump at {Company Name} {Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Officer/Executive/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for operation as per SOP.
  • Head/Designee Quality Control – Shall be responsible for ensuring compliance as per SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

QA Head shall be Accountable for implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
    • Connect the power cord to the electrical supply source.
    • Connect the silicon/rubber tube from the filter holder to the vacuum pump inlet.
    • Switch ON the pump by using the switch provided on the right side of the pump.
    • After completion of filtration, run the pump freely at least for 30 seconds without any load and then switch it OFF.
    • Now detach the silicon/rubber tube from the vacuum pump, while detaching first disconnect the tube from pump inlet and then from the filter holder.
    • Do not switch ON the pump under load.
    • Do not run the pump continuously for many hours and make the pump’s thermal over load allow the pump to cool in case of thermal over load and restart again.
