PERSONNEL HYGIENE

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for Personnel Hygiene.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for personnel Hygiene at {Company Name} {Company Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • All employees shall follow the procedure.
  • HR Manager shall be Review, technical correction, training & monitoring of SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

QA Manager shall be accountable for Approval & Implementation of SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
  • PERSONNEL CLEANLINESS:
  • Take a bath every day.
  • Keep your hair short; shave your beard every day.
  • Keep your ears clean.
  • Brush your teeth every day.
  • Trim your nails short and clean.
  • Don’t apply nail polish.
  • Abnormal hair growth shall be trimmed regularly.
  • In case of any ill health report to your supervisor immediately, particularly if you are suffering from skin rashes, cough, cold, measles, stomach upset etc.
  • Don’t put fingers into nostrils, mouth, and ears while at work.
  • Don’t attend duties if you are under the influence of alcohol or any hallucinogenic drugs or any other drugs whose side effects may cause problem for vision / body movement or un co ordinated thinking.         
  • Always Wear — clean clothes.
  • Always wear —clean gloves.
  • Don’t take medicines, eat, chew, smoke, and drink in the Production area.
  • Keep your belongings like chains, wristwatches, bangles, earrings and rings at specified place / individual lockers. Don’t put Bindi, Kumkum and other coloring agents.
  • Wear respective gowning and enter the manufacturing premises as per the entry procedure.
  • Keep yourself and your surroundings always clean.
  • Never use bare hands to handle products.
  • Always wash your hands properly, particularly after visiting toilets and canteen.
  • Cover the face properly, with proper snood/cap while working in manufacturing dept.
  • Recommended foot wears and uniforms to be used in working areas.
  • REQUIREMENT OF HEALTHY ATMOSPHERE:
  • Follow the laid down procedures before entering the respective area.
  • Always use-cleaned clothing. Do not wear clothing used by another person.
  • Change clothes immediately if they get contaminated with chemicals and wash the affected part of your body with plenty of water.
  • Avoid wiping arms and hands with a dirty cloth or a common towel.
  • If an employee is suffering from any illness or communicable disease, report to concerned department Manager immediately as per Annexure-I.
  • The Department Manager immediately informed the HR department about the illness of concerned employee and further action.
  • HR department immediately contact the diseased employee and asked to visit the doctor for treatment.
  • After recovery from illness, submit a fitness certificate to HR department assessed by a competent physician then employee has to allow working in the designated area.
  • Do not bring personal medication inside the manufacturing, packing or storage area.
  • Do not eat or store foodstuffs in work areas.
  • Do not keep food items in refrigerator where chemicals and biological materials are kept.
  • Do not keep any wounds open.  Cover it with proper bandage. Attention is to be provided to avoid contamination of bandage threads.
  • If necessary, the work area is to be changed.
  • HYGIENIC PRACTICES:
  • Participate in the scheduled yearly medical checkup program.
  • Follow the procedure described for respective operation.
  • Always wear protective clothing while at work.
  • Wear the clothing correctly, for example – if you wear apron, all buttons of it have to be fastened.
  • Do not cluster in process material in the work area. Arrange it to facilitate easy cleaning.
  • Maintain the work area, washrooms, toilets, and drinking water areas clean.
  • Report to superior if any unhygienic operation is being carried out in the work area. Action required shall be recorded as per Annexure-III.
