PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING AND SANITIZATION OF MICROBIOLOGY LAB:
Prepare the disinfectants as per SOP.
Empty the wash bins at the end of the day sanitize with disinfectant solution.
Clean the area by pull, lift and overlapping technique and cleaning shall be done from more critical area (LAF Room) to less critical area (Media destruction & wash room).
Start the cleaning from LAF Room followed by cool zone, change room , Media preparation, Pre sterilization room, Media store room, Water testing room, Incubators room, Media destruction & wash room.
Note: Use dedicated lint free mop / mopping stick mop for cleaning of LAF room, cool zone, change room.
Wipe the walls/panels with lint free mop / mopping stick damped in disinfectant solution from upward to downward, then lift the from there and again wipe in same direction. In each successive wipe it should overlap the previous one.
Clean the floors, doors and coving portion with mopping stick damped in disinfectant solution, leave the area up to 10 minutes after disinfectant application.
Squeeze the mop every time in purified water before each use.
Spray the disinfectant solution on windows glasses and mop with lint free cloth.
Use nose masks and gloves during cleaning and sanitization of microbiology lab.
Frequency: Twice in a day (At Beginning and End of the Day).
Wipe the ceilings with mopping stick damped in disinfectant solution and each successive wipe should overlap the previous one and follow two bucket system.
Cover all the Equipments/Instruments with Kraft paper/butter paper/ polyethene paper while wiping the ceilings. Frequency: Once in a week (End of the Day)
Record the Daily cleaning details in Format-I and weekly cleaning details in Format-II.
