- OBJECTIVE:
To lay down a procedure for replacement of Ultra Filtration modules, Reverse Osmosis membranes, EDI module and Ozonia membranes.
- SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for replacement of Ultra Filtration modules, Reverse Osmosis membranes, EDI module and Ozonia membranes at {Company Name} {Company Location}.
- RESPONSIBILITY:
- Technical Assistant – Engineering is responsible to perform the activity as per the SOP.
- Manager / Executive – Engineering shall ensure compliance as per SOP.

- PROCEDURE:
- ULTRA FILTRATION MODULES:
- Ultrafiltration modules shall be replaced either when any physical damage of module is found, the quality of the water degradation (after troubleshooting activity), or at the end of 7 years, whichever is earlier.
- Disconnect the connections to the module, remove it from the system, and place a new module of the same model and rating.
- Precaution: check the test certificates of the module before installation.
- System shall be qualified to meet desired quality parameter as per the established procedure.
- Detached modules to be incised in to pieces and scrapped.
- Perform the Bubble point test as per the Master schedule for the filter integrity /Differential pressure test. Master schedule format as per Annexure-1.
- While removing the filter from user point close the valve and then remove.
- REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANES:
- Reverse Osmosis Membranes shall be replaced either when any physical damage of membrane found, quality of the water degradation (after trouble shooting activity), or end of 5 years, whichever is earlier.
- Disconnect the connections of the membranes and remove from the system and place the new membranes of same model and rating.
Precaution: check the test certificates of the membranes before installation.
- System shall be qualified to meet desired quality parameter as per the established procedure Removed membranes to be cut in to pieces and scrapped.
- Detached modules to be incised into pieces and scrapped.
- EDI Module:
- EDI module shall be replaced either when any physical damage of membrane found, quality of the water degradation (after trouble shooting activity), or end of 7 years, which ever is earlier.
- Disconnect the connections of the module and remove from the system and place the new module of same model and rating.
- Precaution: check the test certificates of the module before installation.
- System shall be qualified to meet desired quality parameter as per the established procedure.
- Detached modules to be incised into pieces and scrapped.
- OZONIA MEMBRANES:
- In the OZONIA module membrel Electrode set (Anode, Membrane and Cathode) and Gasket set shall be replaced either when any physical damage of electrode set quality due to water degradation or at the end of 2 years, whichever is earlier if required.
- Disconnect the electrical connections of the Ozonia membrel module.
- Remove the Ozonia membrel electrode set (Anode, Membrane and Cathode), and gasket set replace with a new one of same model and rating.
- System shall be qualified to meet desired quality parameter as per the established procedure.Detached electrode set (Anode, Membrane and Cathode) to be scrapped into pieces.
- Record the Module / Membrane Replacement details as per Annexure-I.
- Record the Status label for replacement of UF modules, RO membranes, EDI module & Ozonia membranes details as per Annexure-II.
