OBJECTIVE:
To lay down a procedure for replacement of Ultra-violet light of water system.
SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for replacement of Ultra-violet light of water system at {Company Name} {Location}.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Technician- Follow the instruction as per procedure.
Engineering Officer/Executive- Execution as per laid down procedure.
Engineering Head- Technical correction, review, training & monitoring of SOP.
ABOUT UV IN WATER SYSTEM:
UV light in pharmaceutical water systems provides a non-chemical disinfection method. Employing UV-C radiation, typically at 254nm, it disrupts microbial DNA, preventing replication and rendering organisms harmless. This technology is crucial for maintaining water purity. UV systems offer advantages such as no chemical residuals, low maintenance, and continuous operation. They are often integrated into multi-barrier purification systems, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. Regular monitoring and maintenance are essential for optimal performance and to guarantee the consistent delivery of high-quality water.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Engineering Head
Quality Assurance Head
PROCEDURE:
Precautions & general Conditions:
Ensure that power supply is OFF.
Do not replace the UV Light when power supply is ON.
Use necessary safety wear like goggles, gloves and safety shoe if required.
Clean the UV Light housing.
Replace the UV Light of return water purified line either after every 9000 burning hours or UV intensity found less than 30W/m² whichever is earlier.
Replace the RO membrane and Mix Bed UV light on half yearly basis or whenever the UV light fails whichever is earlier.
Removing:
Switch off the mains of UV Light.
Remove UV Light by opening the threaded plug provided at end of system.
Slowly pull off the UV Light and disconnect the electrical wires.
Keep UV Light at a safe place.
