RODENT AND PEST CONTROL IN FACTORY PREMISES

  • OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for Rodent and Pest Control in factory Premises.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for Rodent and pest Control in Factory Premises at {Company Name} {Company Location}.

  • RESPONSIBILITY:
  • It is the responsibility of the assistant- housekeeping to train and follow the SOP in Coordination with the contract agency, to ensure that the pest and rodent control program is being conducted as per frequency.
  • Pest control service contractor responsible for pesticide chemical spraying and rodent Control as per the agreed terms and conditions.
  •  In charge housekeeping / user department / Quality assurance shall be responsible to ensure the effectiveness of pest control operation.
  • Pest control service contractor has to comply as per SOP and assist in investigation and providing solutions.
  •  In charge Housekeeping shall be responsible to ensure the compliance of this SOP.
  • HR Manager/Designee shall be responsible for review, technical correction, training & monitoring of SOP.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY:

QA Manager and HR Manager shall be accountable for the implementation and compliance of this SOP.

  • PROCEDURE:
  • SERVICE AGREEMENT:
  • As per the service agreement between {company name} and pest control service contractor, any deviation in the pest control activity shall be approved before implementation and service agreement renewal shall be based on the performance.
  • Assistant- Housekeeping will co-ordinate during each visit with the representative of pest control service contractor and document the action performed in the respective log record.
  • It is the joint responsibility of housekeeping and representative of pest control service Contractor, to perform investigation and provide remedial measures where QA shall coordinate and review the effectiveness.
  • Report of observations /activities and service performed shall be given by the contractor. The Pest control service contractor shall submit quarterly reports and the same shall be reviewed by the HR department and shall be verified by the Quality assurance department.
  • PREPARATION OF CHEMICALS :
  • Pest control chemical spraying and rodent control activity shall be carried by the contract service personnel with the proper dilution of chemicals as per recommendations given by the pest control contractor.
  •  This shall be coordinated with HR for Preparation of chemical concentration is as per vendor recommendation which are as listed as follows:
Chemical Use for Pest Control

For measuring 100ml/1000ml measuring cylinder respectively. Pesticide activity shall be carried out by the contractor in such a way that chloropyriphos 20% and Deltamethrin 2.5 % are used alternate thrice in a week (i.e. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) diluted solution shall be used within 24 hours completely. Representative of pest control service contractor to prepare Pest control chemical dilution and record the details in Dis-infestation solution. preparation record as specified in Annexure-I

    • DIS-INFESTATION:

    Dis-infestation is carried out to control the ingress of lizard, cockroaches, spider, flies, and ants, Pest control activity shall be carried by the contractor in such a way that Chloropyriphos 20% and Deltamethrin 2.5 % are used alternately thrice in a week . (i.e. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) 6Ltr capacity climax pump is used for the spraying of the pest control chemicals disinfestations ,the climax pump is used to effectively spray in the Corners, crevice and surrounding areas. The same are documented in Dis-infestation record as per: Annexure-II.

    The Dis-infestation activity is performed in the below mentioned areas:

    • Toilets
      • Outside surroundings of Process areas
        • Cafeteria
          • DG set areas
          • Electrical area
          • Main entry, gutters
          •  Frequency: For General Dis-infestation purpose Chloropyriphos 20% and Deltamethrin 2.5%. are used alternately thrice in a week. (I.e. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) during company declared Holidays the action shall be performed in next working day, pest control activity shall be done in all the locations as per the approved Layout.
    • FOR RODENT CONTROL:
    • Trouble gum pads and rodent bait stations are used for this activity.
    • Raw material and packing material stores shall be controlled for rodents, place the trouble gum pads away from the work areas.
    • For rodents and crawling insects control the trouble gum pads will be placed inside, either side of all the main entry points and exit points as per the approved pest control Layout.
    • Rodent control in the external peripheries rodent bait station is placed outside either side of all entry points and exit points . Roban cake (Bromadiolone) will be placed inside the bait stations placed in the external areas as per the approved pest control layout.
    • The HR personnel are responsible for assigning the location number. The location number shall be followed as TG-01,RB-01,.(where “TG” stands for trouble gum pads, “RB” stands for rodent bait stations 01 stands for serial number), Whenever new area added, location number shall be increased sequence basis.
    • If the pest control activities are not satisfactory during the round of concerned Department executive, the contractor shall be called and discussed for making any amendments in the agreement to render additional services like using new pesticides/ rodenticides or increasing the quantities to cover more identified areas.
    • The entry of birds into the buildings has to be avoided by putting suitable wire meshes at the ventilator open spaces.
    • As and when any rodent is caught in gum trap or found dead immediately remove and place it in a poly bag and close the bag, before disposal the rodent same activity shall be inform to quality assurance department through “rodent notification and disposal record”, and the poly-bag shall be handover to Housekeeping operator for disposal, the dead rodent is taken outside the plant premises and the dead rodent is buried under the soil.
    • Record the above activity in Rodent notification and disposal record as per Annexure-XI.
    • The housekeeping supervisor check the trouble gum traps daily and change once in a month or whenever required records the trouble gum traps checking details in Annexure-III.
    • Check the rodent bait station and ensure the roban cake is inside the bait station daily by housekeeping supervisor and changing of roban cake once in a month or whenever required. Record the rodent bait station daily checking details in Annexure-IV

    • Lizard & Spider Control:
    • Deltamethrin 2.5 % is used for controlling lizards and spiders, spray pesticide’s using the Calimax pump in ceiling corners of supporting area building such as admin, engineering, security, reception areas. Etc.
    • For external peripheries of all building cleaning shall be done using cobweb pipe brush.
    • Record the above activity in the Lizard & Spider Control Record as per Annexure-V.
    • Frequency: Every fifteen days.
    • Burrows:
    • Check the outside area within the premises for presence of any burrows, once in 15 days.
    • Whenever any burrow(s) is noticed in the surrounding area soil, place roban cake inside the burrow and close the burrow by filling with the soil.
    • Record the above activity in burrow inspection record as per Annexure-VI.
    • Snake Control:
    • Phenol carbolic acid used for controlling snakes acts as repellant. Spray Phenol carbolic acid using the Climax pump inside the compound wall surroundings.
    • Once in 15 days checks are performed for snake’s presence, especially like dense area of garden. If any presence is observed immediately inform the pest control agency for capturing purpose and record in remarks column of Annexure-VI
    • Frequency: spray once in 15 days and documented as per Annexure-VII
    • Larva control :
    • Baytex chemical used for control of mosquito breeding sites, spraying the diluted pest control chemical using the 6 Ltr capacity calimax pump inside the compound wall surroundings water stagnant areas and drains.
    • Frequency: once in a month and documented as per Annexure-VIII
    • House fly control :
    • Quick bayt (Imidacloprid) chemical used for control of housefly’s, areas where fly intensity is high especially like Outside surroundings of process areas and all entry points to Paint-on application for control house flies.
    • Frequency: once in a month and documented as per Annexure-IX
    • Cockroach control :
    • Maxforce IC (Imidacloprid) Gel chemical treatment used for control of all types of cockroaches, where cockroaches’ infestation is observed i.e. cafeteria and kitchen area in cracks & crevices to apply the spot application to control cockroaches.
    • Frequency: once in three months and documented as per Annexure-X.
