- OBJECTIVE:
To lay down a procedure for Cleaning of Potable water storage tank.
- SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for Cleaning of Potable water storage tank at {Company Name} {Company Location}.
- RESPONSIBILITY:
- Technical Assistant – Engineering is responsible to perform the Cleaning activity.
- Executive/ Manager – Engineering is responsible to ensure the compliance as per SOP.

- PROCEDURE:
- Potable water storage tank cleaning shall be carried out by manual scrubbing with nylon brushes and moping pads. Precautions: Use new brushes and moping pads.
- Stop the feed pump of the potable tank from the RO Product water storage tank.
- Close the Potable tank discharge valve.
- Remove the top lid of the Potable tank.
- Open the drain valve of the tank and drain the water from the tank.
- Person enters the tank by wearing shoes covers and gloves.
- The inner surface of the tank is scrubbed with nylon brush and moping pad.
- Drain the water from the tank and flush with feed water by opening the tank inlet valve by starting the feed pump.
- Finally rinse the tank with fresh water twice.
- Close the drain valve of the tank and fill the tank with fresh water.
- Clean the outer surfaces with dry cloth.
- Place the top lid on the tank.
- Open the tank discharge valve and release the water for production use.
- Record the cleaning details as per Annexure-I.
- After completion of the cleaning details shall be updated on the tank as per Annexure-II.

- Used brushes and mops should be put into the dustbin.
- Frequency: Cleaning shall be carried out once in fortnightly along with the fortnightly preventive maintenance of the water system.
